Twelfth Quirk - A Grand Showcase (Video)

*The video opens with Imogen on a rooftop. Her outfit is a bit more... centralized. It isn’t wild colors and patterns like usual. Her outfit is black and grey, with little silver accents all along. The only thing not in the colors were brown leggings. The whole outfit, it’s stiff fabric and rugged look, along with her strange make-up give the idea of ancient stonework. She still had her glasses, and there were little grey feathers in her hair. She put a lot of work into this, clearly. She's also very serious looking, focused and determined, not her usual wild energy.*

*She gives a curtsy and begins, putting her ocarina to her lips and playing. A low quiet tune as she starts a small simple dance, getting used to the tune before the real show began. The real show being the Aerodactyl flying behind her, which if you listen, it's flying and banking and moving in time with the music. Roaring in a few purposefully placed gaps in Imogen's song. Curling up for a seat on the ground with Aerodactyl behind her as she ends.*

*A few moments later she bounces up and runs over to the camera, and whoever is controlling it. The Imogen you’re all used to.* DID YOU GET IT, WAS IT GOOD, HOW DID MY OUTFIT LOOK!? Do you think it'll work for when I challenge Bugsy!? Cause I wanna make a good show of it!

*Kinda spoils the illusion she didn’t give Tenten a chance to cut the video. The ninja girl flinches at the sudden change, the camera shaking a bit as she took a step back, laughing as she held the ‘gear out of reach.*

It's gonna look great! Just, uh. Don't suddenly break and run when you're actually doing it. I mean, it ruins the effect a little... How'd you even think of this?

Oh, well after I figured out how to train Aglon, Bugsy being a bug trainer while Aglon has both the effective types it just... clicked. Sudden inspiration! And then here I am! But I promise I will keep in character for real. *Oh Imogen*

*A little later, Imogen on her own. No weird stone make-up.* Hey, um, does anyone know where I can get a safety harness thing for Aglon, I'll be careful flying with Tenten, but in case I'm in a crisis I'd like something a bit safer!

(OOC: Action for Goldenrod if you wanna run into her after she's put away her costume and is back to the regular weird that is Imogen in the streets of Pokeworld.)

Did you ask around at the department store? [ flying safe would be very good, especially because of Tenten. ]

Oh, good luck on your match as well.

Aerodactyl aren't really common for flying around. And the only harness they had was too big for my backpack.

Normally I'll be riding cross country on the back of my fiery unicorn.

[ isn't it a bit late for this problem to be popping up? he's trying not to let the awkwardly protective instincts seem too obvious. Tenten would probably not be too thrilled about it if she knew. ]

Could she maybe where it and keep it on in the pokeball? Or would that be uncomfortable.

It doesn't work for Wildfyre's saddle. I tried, it'll just fall to the ground.

I mean I guess I could get this for now and then get something better later... but it's kinda pricey...

Sorry, that's not what I meant. I don't really know how these things work. [ he doesn't even put his pokemon in their balls that often. ]

...well it'd be a showy trick, just not when you're on her.

Some items Pokemon can keep in the ball, others can't. It's not really an easy system to learn, so it's okay not to know it..

And I'm WEIRD, not suicidal. There's a difference. I have no intention of doing anything to put Tenny in danger on her trip to Violet.

Can you store them in the PC the way you can store pokemon?

I know. She'd probably complain if she knew I was worrying at all. [ he can't help it though, it's kind of his nature. he worries about a cut from soda can getting infected when it's his friends. ]

That's what I usually do with extra clothes, weird stuff I pick up, and whatever else I don't need while I walk. But if it's a harness for emergency flying it needs to fit in my backpack or else it won't be much good when emergencies happen.

As emergencies are rarely nice enough to happen by a Pokemon Center.

[She's still pretty impressed with the whole display, even after the 'gear's shut off.]

No, really, the makeup and costume...? I'd have never thought of something like this, and then the music, too... It's pretty impressive. Maybe he'll give you the badge just for that alone!

*Imogen patted Aglon on the head a few times before returning the big dino to her Pokeball. Then letting Talent the Eevee out to sit on her shoulder.*

Well, the music is a must because that's how I keep Aglon on point. She doesn't speak English, but with a psychic I rented from Foofyku we managed to work out a way to teach Aglon musical commands.

The make-up and costume just... it clicked! It all appeared perfectly in my head, I got to work, the image changed while I worked about 80 times and this is what I ended up with.

I know I can't dance as much when I do this for a battle, and the music will be different because my commands will change. But you really think it's that impressive?

I think so, yeah. I mean, I'd never have thought of anything like this... for my own badge, I'm more running over the strategies I've got planned than thinking about doing anything else.

[With Aglon away, Tenten lets her week-old Mienfoo, Neji, out of his ball, snorting a little when he immediately clings to her leg with a nuzzle to say hello. Nothing like his namesake at all...]

I think that'll be a good tactic though, since it'll be hard to predict what moves you're going to use thanks to the music. And plus, it might be a good distraction, too.

A good strategy is one thing, but it isn't as important if you got a good team going in. I have plenty of ways to take out bug types so it's more a question of how to go about it. And if I can, why not be a bit dramatic with the whole thing.

*Imogen can't help being a star, and if she has a stage she will command it. She eyes Tenten's little friend and smiles, always fun when the Pokemon is small and clingy... except her clingy Pokemon excreted poison if she wasn't careful.*

I had been starting most of my Pokemon on it. Using my Ocarina to give out commands. I used displaced commands when I battled Falkner but he caught on a bit fast. He's a serious one and hard to get off his A game with theatrics, which wasn't fun at all!

Yeah... I guess I'm still working on building my team, since a lot of them are lower levels. Once they're stronger though--!

[Then she'll be able to face Imogen on somewhat-level ground. That would be great, once she was strong enough to be able to challenge her friends.

Neji made a little growly sound and used Bounce to fly into the air and drop into Tenten's arms, leaving her stumbling from the sudden weight.]

Neji... ugh. But I'm thinking of using hand signals against him. Do you think that'll do any good? Against Falkner, I mean.

Hmmm... not a good idea, Falkner's Pokemon are fast and his commands concise. You can't have your team looking away that often.

You need something less intrusive. Something that doesn't upset the tempo of the fight.

You think so...? Hm.

[That's troubling, since that's her entire style, and it had worked really well against Android 17...]

Well, if it doesn't work, I'll start a new training method. It's a little late to switch now...

Anyway! [She claps her hands once.] Do you know anything else on the flute?

[Tenten that's not a flute at all.]

I mean, if it were me, handgestures would work at the start. But once I noticed them I'd start timing my attacks to when your team looks away to see your command.

*Imogen is crazy, but she isn't stupid. And she doesn't like to fight completely fair.*

...What Flute? I mean, I can play the flute but I don't have one here. I'm also way better at the Ocarina because I've been practicing.

That makes sense... you know, you wouldn't be a bad ninja with the right training, Imogen~

[That's a compliment! She points to the ocarina with a bit of confusion though.]

That's... not a flute? I've never heard of an ocarina before...

Thanks, but no. I'm good with just being me. Some of the training could be fun though.

They're the same family of musical instruments but they make different sounds. Flutes are long tube things.

*She does know what separates the two... but it's really boring to explain.*

It is a lot of fun, promise.

But yeah, I don't know a lot about instruments. They tried to teach me to play the shamisen as part of my whole 'kunoichi must be proper ladies' thing, but I never got the hang of it.

That isn't why, I can imagine it is but...

You and Sasuke are very... you lack some of the things that make me me, and I can't help but think part of it is your world. I'm very happy with me, and I wouldn't be if I were a ninja.

I know how to paint, and sculpt, and build, and sew, and I can play like five different instruments. Sorry, but, I wouldn't change places with you guys.

You mean like how we don't really have much of a choice in what we end up doing...? Joonhee-niisan and I were talking about that, a while ago. We get to learn techniques, find what our specialization is, but yeah... most of it has to do with ninja-stuff. But you know...? I don't think I'd trade places with you, either. Being able to decide for yourself sounds really good and all, but there's just so much out there.

And while you seem pretty normal, Sasuke... definitely isn't. And while that sorta stuff happens in my world too, it's more common in your world, isn't it?

Yeah. There's a lot of messed-up stuff that goes along with being in a clan. 'S why I stay as far away as possible from all that stuff.

There aren't clans like that in your world, right?

I already figured that out a while ago, it wasn't too hard to recognize.

*She'd been like that too.*

Not... legally, there are some groups. Travelers, Mob Families, Hatfields and McCoys. Very insular groups, families, with serious issues with each other or outsiders. But not to the point where it's common for a kid to be an orphan like Sasuke.

Toronto has it's crime, and tragedy, but it isn't at a constant state of conflict.

Mm. My teammate Neji's the same way.

I've heard of people being part of mobs before. Like... yakuza, is what we call them. They're kind of like clans, but they're really just a bunch of people who get together under a boss and like to hurt people. Clans are like that too, except it seems like they like to hurt their own people the most.

[That might just be the Hyuuga clan though, the one she's most familiar with thanks to Neji.]

...well, I think we might be in one soon. With no Hokage, and with the Sand and Sound attacking...

It depends, really. I don't know how gangs and mobs work except for in the movies, but they aren't all thugs and creeps. They can't be, otherwise there would be more done to stop them.

And Families are... they don't always get along, just not like what your world has. Not like Sasuke... *She didn't know about the hurt themselves bit, that was a bit of Sasuke she didn't know.*

And the fact that you're a trained ninja doing combat things kinda says even if you aren't at war, you don't have peace either. Especially if your home could be at war now.

Mm. [She just nods, listening to the descriptions of the other world with a kind of wistfulness. It didn't sound all that bad, there.

She turned away at the mention of Sasuke though, eyes on the ground.]

Do you know what happened to him...? Besides, even if we're not at actual war, we're hired to do things that aren't always the most peaceful. But it's never on a large scale, it's always you and your team against whoever the other team was. It's just... business, I guess.

Are you really going to do this when you challenge a gym leader...?

[Pardon the obvious question; Ludwig's just in disbelief right now.]

Well, the routine is a bit long, but a shorter version before the battle.

You're doing a shorter version? That's good... because this all seems like a bit much to me. Will you really have the time or space to pull this off before you battle?

Um... I hope there's space, otherwise it'll be hard to use Aglon in a battle.

But I'm sure there'll be time.

I'm sure there'll be space for the Pokemon. I mean space for all that movement. You'll be indoors, unless there's something about Bugsy's gym that I didn't notice. You may have to "shrink" the routine a bit to take that into account. But perhaps you've already thought of that...

I would hope, it'd be hard to have a badass air battle if there's no room for Fliers to fly.

I wasn't planning on going as big with the routine, and saving the big moves for the battle. Y'know?

"Badass air battle?" Does Bugsy really have Pokemon that can keep up with that one? ...Then again, I suppose there's nothing wrong with a little showmanship now and then.

I dunno, he runs bugs so he has to be aware of Flying types coming after him.

I wonder what counters he has to that... do you know if there are any bug types that can use Rock or Electric-type attacks?

I dunno, maybe. But I should be fine.

There's that electric bug that was a big deal Valentine's Day.

[When the video crackles on, there's a distinct sound of HORRIBLE SCREECHING and the rattling of chains. The dim light provided by Flare's tail reveals one drooling dinosaur with bloodshot eyes. Please don't mind the scattered feathers, bones, and egg shells around her.

There's an audible sigh, before the camera turns to Riku.]

I'm surprised you were able to get your Aerodactyl so coordinated, given this fine specimen.

[Cue another GYaAAAAAAAaaAARGGGHH.]

*Yeah... Imogen looks a little uneasy about seeing Aglon's mommy. She does her best to shake it off and be upbeat and peppy.*

It was a lot of work to get her to understand the cues, but it was well worth it! We had to devise a way to psychically represent the motions and movements to her while I played, so the first few days were just... teaching her to speak music.

I can't teach her new routines till Talent is ready to evolve, but she has the basic combat and flight commands down nicely.

[The fact that she's chained up probably isn't helping, nor the fact that she's charging straight at Riku--

Or was, until Flare pelted her with a Rock Slide attack. The two both groan and wander away, slamming the door tightly, but Imogen might still be able to make out some roars from inside.]

I wonder if that would even work for Terror. She's not exactly obedient.

I... don't think so. Aglon already showed interest in the music before we taught her to speak it. Terror... isn't like that.

*She's now got an idea of what Foofy's been trying to tell her since she got Aglon's egg.*

I have access to a very fast very strong dinosaur for Pokemon battles. So yeah, I've upped the Theatrics to eleven!
